Maude

This is from when we created a new file server, billie, from a machine previously called maude

First change all fstab files to use billie again (will have to make new disk image for macs...), ldap.conf should be fine

shutdown all macs, cluster machines, then miles

Before shutting down (old) billie:

  • get new output of slapcat, and make sure ok
  • change hostname and ip to maude, so will be able to boot up if need to without having problems
  • now can shutdown

Changes to Maude:

  • change hostname, ipaddress, hosts file, hook up to apc, reboot, might have problems with new hostname/ip, may need to shutdown for an hour...
  • emtpy ldap database, enter new stuff
    • /etc/init.d/slapd stop
    • rm -rf /var/lib/ldap/*
    • slapadd -l newdata.ldif
    • change
    • /etc/init.d/slapd start
    • change so using own ldap data base
    • test again
    • change on mail server, test, probably need to copy over new certificates, may need to make new certificates for other services
  • make sure file serving still working
  • once mail server and web site are back up, should be ok to boot back up miles to test rest of stuff
  • change all bacula configs to billie, test
  • netatalk:
    • change /etc/netatalk/apfd.conf to billie (very bottom)
    • test
    • change to export home directories (uncomment bottom) and lab_mac AppleVolumes.default
    • /lab_mac lab_mac
    • test again
  • printing
  • make new image for macs, install new cd drive in koko
